The Client

Cortextual is a workforce intelligence platform that helps companies understand how their organisation works and make better-informed workforce decisions. It connects organisational structure, employee data, workforce costs and company knowledge, giving leaders a clearer view of their people, resources and dependencies.

The Challenge

Building a platform that brings together so many interconnected aspects of workforce management meant more than developing individual features. The challenge was to make complex organisational data easy to understand, connect different product areas into one coherent experience, and give leaders practical tools to explore the impact of their decisions before making them.

As an early-stage product, Cortextual was also evolving with the light of speed. We needed to shape the product, define its functionality and continuously improve the experience while moving towards commercial launch.

My Role

I joined the team within the first months of product development as one of two Product Managers. I worked across the platform, owning several key product areas like:

• Insights – Dashboards providing an overview of workforce data, costs, HR metrics and compliance.
• Org Chart – An interactive view of company structure, employees, employee contributions, roles and reporting lines.
• Scenarios – Workforce planning tools to model organisational changes and compare their impact on headcount, costs and compliance.
• Compliance – Features for managing legal, payroll and tax cases, including access to expert consultations.
• Contracts Hub – Employee contract management with AI-powered data extraction to keep workforce records accurate and up to date.

Beyond feature development, I also drove UX improvement initiatives across the platform, including feature redesigns and improvements to core navigation elements such as the left-hand menu and top bar.

I also contributed to shaping the product's core architecture and underlying logic, defining how key data, processes and product areas connect and work together. This included establishing consistent data management, employee lifecycle flows and historical data handling to support a reliable and scalable platform.

Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with design, engineering, QA, product marketing and business stakeholders to shape, deliver and continuously improve the product.

The Outcome

Cortextual moved from early product development to commercial launch, bringing multiple workforce intelligence capabilities together in one connected platform.

My contribution helped turn complex business needs into practical product features, build out core areas of the platform and improve the overall user experience. The result is a product that gives organisations a more complete view of their workforce — from structure and costs to knowledge and contributions — helping them understand the implications of change before making decisions.
